It is crucial that you are thorough when completing your form so that we have the best basis for evaluating your case. Once we have received your form, your idea will be assessed by our team, and you will be subsequently contacted. Please expect a processing time of 2-3 weeks before hearing from us.

What is an idea?
An idea consists of the first thoughts and considerations and is at an early stage where it has not necessarily taken the form of an actual product and/or technology.
What is an invention?
An idea becomes an invention when there is a finished or nearly finished developed concept, product, and/or technology.
Note! We have found that it can be difficult to assess whether a submission is actually at the invention stage or still at the idea/discovery stage. We would like to make this assessment in collaboration with you as part of our initial screening. If we agree that it concerns an invention, we will provide the formal reporting form in accordance with the Act on Inventions at Public Research Institutions, which you will then be asked to complete and submit.

Rights and duties
According to the law on inventions, as an employee at Aalborg University Hospital, you are obliged to report an invention you have made in connection with your work. With this duty, however, comes a right to receive a royalty fee if the invention is patented and commercialized.
When the North Denmark Region claims the rights, the region, in turn, ensures that the invention is commercially utilized. This is the responsibility of the Innovation Clinic and will take place in close collaboration with you as the inventor. A high level of commitment is expected from your side in the process.
If you retain the rights and use them commercially, the region is entitled to a fee.
