About the Innovation Clinic
Who is the Innovation Clinic?
The Innovation Clinic is the regionally embedded clinic-based innovation unit of the North Denmark Region and is aimed at supporting the innovation process – from idea to product – for alle employee-driven health inventions that create value for patient, employees, and society.
Established in 2009 originally as a three-year project at Aalborg University Hospital with support from the Growth Forum, the Regional Council later decided to continue it as a permanent unit.
Over the years, a distinctive feature of the Innovation Clinic has been the clinic-based employee-driven innovation, where inventions and ideas can e based on both everyday clinical issues and clinical research results. The Innovation Clinic also manages the TTO function for the North Denmark Region, overseeing the portfolio of patent applications, granted patents, and commercial agreements related to the inventers. The portfolio of health inventions is broad, typically receiving 50-60 new ideas and inventions annually.
The core task of the Innovation Clinic is to support the collection, development, and utilization of employees’ good ideas and inventions, bringing them into use as new health and welfare technological solutions.Mission
Our mission is to actively contribute to the development of the healthcare system in North Jutland – for the benefit of patients, employees, and the North Denmark Region by:

- Supporting the development of innovative solutions with a focus on enhancing patient treatment and experience, including quality and efficiency in the overall patient journey.
- Realizing and commercializing ideas and inventions.
